Women's lullabies

Women's lullabies

I write the day before for you to read it today, which is your day, woman, sister, friend, companion, stranger but so related.

Today it is time to read, to chat, to get together, to go out into the streets, to feel that the power in our chests and our bellies unites to demand a fairer and better place for those of us who are here and those to come.

I will spend the day doing what I always do, I am lucky, I surround myself with strong and inspiring women and I learn from them constantly. This time I will surround myself with them again, I will close my eyes trying not to miss a bit of the energy that is flowing so strongly and I will ask myself the big question : What will happen from now on? Whatever happens will be good, because this catharsis we are experiencing, this purifying storm, not only serves to cleanse our own intoxicated organism of machismo and silence, it will also help to lay the groundwork for the generations to come. Those who, thanks to what they see and hear today, will not accept a joke in bad taste, nor a hand on the thigh, nor a partner who will turn off the light. If only for them, it will have been worth it, because their world will be better than ours.

I insist, here speaks a lucky woman who has spent her life traveling, many times alone, who has been able to experience love as many times as she has felt it, without being labeled as anything, of course, who considers herself an artist and lives from it, who can vote, express her opinion, dress as she wants and surround herself with men and women who respect her. All this, which for me is normal, women before us would have considered it a utopia.

Because there was a time when a woman to practice art had to disguise herself as a man, and to open a bank account she needed the permission of her father or her husband, that her opinion did not count, that her sentences were interrupted because they lacked interest, and that she could only choose to wither away behind closed doors.

The injustice has been so flagrant that some brave and lucid women have championed a struggle throughout history that has been breaking down barriers and that today seems to be starting to take shape again to mark another great change. One day we could vote, one day we could choose to divorce, one day soon gender violence will be remembered as an aberration of the past and the difference between men and women will be as anecdotal as the little more or less skin we keep between our legs.

Anyway... we are in the fight . Happy day, women of the world! May our voices be the lullaby of the generation born with us today.
